Daniel 5:1-6 Daniel 5:25-31 The writing
was on the wall. The end had come for the Babylonian empire. Their days had come to an end. Likewise, Earths days are nearing
the end, and we each face our judgment. There are a
lot of very unusual ideas about the end of the world floating around out there. Today,
I would like to examine a few passages which speak of the end of the Earth and the Judgment to come. Verses 1-7 Many truly believe that
this world is eternal. They believe that the earth always was, and always
will be. God tells us differently. The
end will come, and he will destroy this physical world. Verses 8-9 Here, God gives us the
reason why He delays. He wants everyone to wake up and smell the coffee as it
were. He wants all men to repent and turn to Him.
And so He gives us time to accomplish this for Him. In a way,
it is as though He is waiting for us to finish up things down here. For surely,
if we do not teach, then not all will be saved. Verse 10 Here is the manner of the
Earths destruction. It will: ·
Come unexpectedly. Just as no
one expects the thief who robs him, the end will come upon people unaware. ·
This world will be destroyed through heat and fire, in keeping with the promise
made to Noah. (Genesis 9:8-17) Then God said to Noah and to his sons with
him: "I now establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you
and with every living creature that was with you--the birds, the livestock and all the wild animals, all those that came out
of the ark with you--every living creature on earth. I establish my covenant
with you: Never again will all life be cut off by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the
earth." And God said,
"This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations
to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the
covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and
the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind.
Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. Whenever the
rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of
every kind on the earth." So God said to Noah, "This is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all life on the earth." Verses 11-18 And so, as
we know God will destroy this world, then how shall we live? Shouldnt we be prepared
and fully ready for this? Should we not live as God would have us to live, and
be ready? Revelation
20:11-15 Verses
20:11-15 Here is the
judgment of God. It is described elsewhere in similar ways (Matthew 25:31-46). Everyone will be judged for their deeds. As
was stated in 2 Peter, should we not all be prepared for this event? Especially
since we know it is coming? Revelation
21:1-8 Verses
1-4 The old, or
current, world has passed away. God will be among His people, and
they will be with God. They will be with God. See how great it will be for them? No tears, death, or sorrow. All the things that make this life difficult and painful will cease to exist. Verses
5-8 God will save
those who truly wish to be saved. Those who live their lives for Him and obey
Him He has promised to save. Those who do not serve Him, who serve themselves,
will not be saved, but eternally condemned. Revelation
21:22-22:5, 12-21 Verses
22-5 Once again
this amazing thing is said. God is there.
The saved will be with God. Those who are not will not be with Him. · God is the light there · The gates shall never be
shut There is nothing to fear there, for who can defeat God? · Only the clean and pure
shall enter. · Note the river of water
of life Verses
12-21 Here is stated
again the obvious. God is returning soon.
We do not know the date or time, but He is coming, and coming quickly. We
must be diligent to show ourselves to be of the group in verse 14, those who do His commandments. For the other option is verse 15 those who cannot enter heaven. God
invites you to come, to be one of His children. The writing
is on the wall. As the days of Babylon were numbered, so are the days of earth. The end is neigh. |
