Everyone can do something
















Exodus 3:7-12                    -Moses first excuse: who am I?

 

How often do I hear people use this excuse!  And the funny thing is, everyone makes a difference.  Trust me on this.  I will show, using the bible, that a single person can make a tremendous difference, for good or ill.  And Im going to avoid the ever-present starfish thrown back in the sea example.

 

Genesis 18:23-33                    -If those few had been righteous, two cities would have                                        not been destroyed

Genesis 37:19-22 -Reuben alone stood in the way of Josephs death

Genesis 45:4-7 -Joseph saves familyand continues Israel

Exodus 17:8-13                    -Hur helps Moses (holds up hand)

Joshua 2:1-7                          -Rahab protects spies

Joshua 7:1-5, 10-15  -Achans sin

                                                His sin resulted in defeat at the hands of Ai.

Judges 3:31                           -Shamgar the judge

Judges 4:17-22                    -Jael kills Sisera with tent stake

Ruth 2:11-12                          -Boaz sees what Ruth has done for her mother-in-law-                                                     Ruth has done enough for him to notice

Ruth 2:15-19                          -Boaz makes a difference for Ruth and her mother-in-                                                       law by making it easier on her

1 Samuel 17:4-11                       -Goliath caused the whole Israelite army to fear and                                                      remain in place

1 Samuel 17:41-51                    -When David slays Goliath, the Philistine army flees

1 Kings 12:25-33                    -Jeroboam sets up idols, a trend that will be followed                                                          by the kings of Israel-leading the nation into apostacy

2 Kings 21:10-15                    -Mannassehs sins cause God to promise Judahs                                                                       destruction

2 Kings 22:18-20                    -Josiahs righteous actions give Judah a reprieve

Nehemiah 2:17-18                       -Without Nehemiah, the walls would not have been                                                      rebuilt

Esther 4:12-14, 8:5-11            -Esther saves the Jews

Proverbs 10:1                -A wise son (singular) brings joy

Jonah 3                                  -Assyrians repent when warned by Jonah

Matthew 3:1-12                    -If no John, then who would prepare for Jesus?

Mark 14:10-11, 43-45            -Judas betrayed Jesus

John 4:39-42                         -Samaritan womans testimony caused others to hear and believe

Acts 8:1-3                              -Saul persecutes the church, Paul later writes the                                                                    epistles, teaches throughout the world, and is one of                                                         Christs greatest defenders

Acts 18:24-28                    -Apollos teaches, is corrected, and is a great help

Romans 5:13             -Adam/Eve introduced sin

2 Timothy 4:14-15                       -Alexander caused enough to trouble for Paul to write                                                   this

Hebrews 11:7                -Because of Noah, mankind was continued

 

If we couldnt make a difference, then why are there verses such as Matthew 28:28-20 and James 5:19-20?
