If you are visiting this site, you probably know at least a little about me. In the event that you don't, here
My name is Jered. I'm 21 year old and I'm currently a student at University of Houston Clear Lake (UHCL) with only 1 semester
left before I receive my bachelor's in history. (Huzzah!) After that I will begin my graduate work in library
science. My goal is to be a museum archivist, or if that doesn't work out, a public librarian. I have worked in
two seperate libraries, for Alvin Community College, and am currently substitute teaching for Alvin School District.
With luck, that's over and I'll be finding a new job this summer. My preaching experience is limited to giving
full length sermons at two congregations, invitations at three, teaching the high school class on one congregation, and conducting
Bible studies in my house.
As for what I do in my free time, I read. I read a lot. I particularly enjoy fantasy, but also enjoy reading
many other books. My book collection is always growing, and is currently well over 600 books. It's not going to
be much fun to move them to a new house when I move out. When I'm not reading, I'm usually playing an RPG of some sort
on my computer, designing D&D adventures or refining my campaign setting, playing my guitar at excessive volumes,
sketching, or painting. I have finally made a friend in Texas, where I live. The only other people I can call
friends live roughly 1000 miles away in Indiana. Good people, they are.
My tastes are varied. I play guitar, and enjoy playing and listening to good guitar music. That means lots
of classic rock and lots of guitar solos. I also enjoy Baroque classical music and some German opera, particularly Wagner.
My taste in books would be considered poor by many people. I enjoy decidedly lousy fantasy paperbacks, mostly Dragonlance
and Forgotten Realms. On the other hand I enjoy some true classics and a great many nonfiction works. I love reading
dusty tomes of history. I've been told that I have good taste in which books I recommend, so feel free to ask.
I am obsessed with dragons.
I tend to stumble over words when I talk, stumble over my feet when I walk, and tend to talk to myself too much.
No, I don't drink, smoke, take drugs, etc. I'm very religious and attend services at a Church of Christ three times
a week. Politically I'm a conservative. Well, I guess I'm a conservative in most things. Not the sort that
thinks Democrats are demon-spawned, I just disagree with the idea that liberalism is the best option for America.
And yes, I am defiantely a nerd and proud of it.
That's pretty much me in a nutshell. Especially the bit about the nerd.
